Mercy Children Society

Our Mission

Mercy Charitable Program is focused on helping children through direct nutrition and education. Our goal is to enable children to develop physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in order for them to become self-reliant adults. Currently, we are supporting a year round nutrition program and a school for 336 needy children in Arada Ethiopia. The school also employs 31 community members.

Education

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world."

— Nelson Mandela

Our current focus is the Addis Yeewuket Minch Primary School. This venture began in 2018 and has been expertly overseen by Tirzah Children and Community Development Association (an Ethiopian NGO). After much planning, in July of 2018 buildings were acquired and renovated for a school to educate and provide full-year nutrition to 200 students (presently 336 students). In September of 2018 the school was opened. The school is free for the children to attend and also provides a full-year nutrition program for the students. Student selection gives preference to double orphans then orphans, and then fills the remaining vacancies via advisement from the local Women’s and Children’s Affair Office that focus on selecting children who do not have the financial means to pursue an education. Additionally, the school provides numerous jobs for teachers, cooks, guards, and limited school administration staff. The school now has 336 children.
